My bros, Philip & Stephen are up in Wellington this weekend for the Easter break. On Friday morning we all went to the Lord of the Rings exhibit at Te Papa museum. We were there for about 2 and half hours and really enjoyed it. We especially liked the acrylic paintings of the LOTR environment studies. They were really stunning pieces of conceptual art. Also, the armour, the clothing and weapons were awesome and Weta Workshop and Three Foot Six really did go to extraordinary lengths to perfect the finest detail of each piece. But, my favourite things were the minatures and bigatures of Minas Tirith, Lord Sauron's tower (can't remember the books name for it) and the statue of Sauron himself. The Minas Tirith bigature was at least 4m high and probably about 6m across. It was so detailed with all the streets, buildings and trees. Just incredible!
On Saturday we went to the Lower Hutt vege market... to get some veges. Then, we went to the Days Bay Cafe (Chocolate Days) for lunch. Steve, Phil and myself also saw 'March of the Penguins' at the movies. It was OK... but I didn't think it was anything spectacular. Yesterday we tried to go and buy Easter eggs for each other but discovered that we had left it too late as all the eggs had been sold out! However, at the Warehouse we found the last remaining giant egg and promptly hauled it home. It was a giant 1kg wonder, which has kept us rather high for the last 24 hours!
Last night we had a great time with the Eleys and their extended family for dinner. Today we are just blobbing and watching Ali G, Black Adder, and The Tom Green Show. Later on... in the tradition of easter, Phil wants to watch an ultra-violent Japanese manga movie.
The boys leave on Tuesday. Before then, however we have four more guests from Christchurch coming to stay on Monday night (Matt, Tom, Robbo and Simon) for the Rolling Stones concert. So we will have 8 people staying in our house on Monday night. The new guests leave on Wednesday.
Denali and I now have the internet at home... so all who want to chat to Denali online during the day about the baby and life in Wellington should download a program called 'Google Talk' (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD IT!). You can also check the 'Links' listed to the right as I have pasted a website there that you can get it from. You will need to get yourself a 'gmail' account to use the program though. All this is a painless and easy process... so get to it!
Denali's new e-mail address is: denalilord@gmail.com
Our new home phone number is: (04) 970-2403
