Getting used to it

Colin's first hold

Morning cuddles

This from Denali...

Things are going really well at the moment. Sophie seems to be getting into a good routine now and I feel heaps more confident as a mum with feeding and sleeping. Can't wait to come to Chch in August to show her off. We have had lots of guests who are so helpful and I must thank everyone in our cell group for bringing over that HUGE-washing-basket-sized cooked dinner hamper. It was wonderful!

Our midwife Penina doing a regular check up on Sophie.

From Biggus...

Work has been stressful this week as we bring to a close a large Tourism NZ job that has been ongoing for the last year and a half. Other than that minor downer, I am just happy getting used to being a Dad at the moment. That means I am getting used to doing the housework and cooking (not that I will need to with that huge hamper), changing Sophie and cleaning her FILTHY NAPPIES! It's all good though and I can see with a little more training, I will soon become the superhero I wish and hope to be.

Sophie is being a real pain though. All she does is sleep, feed and poo. I am trying to teach her to fetch me drinks but she's not catching on. I think she might be broken.
Actually, Sophie may have clicky hips. Not a big deal. Just means a check up at the doctors and perhaps a cast to set it in place properly. If she does get a cast, we will invite everyone round to sign it. We can see how many tiny signatures we can cram on there.

Denali's sister Carys left on Tuesday evening. When she left, I picked up Colin 10 mins later. He stayed until Thursday evening. My brother Mike arrives this evening for the long weekend.

This is a cool picture my bro Phil did with his flippin sweet wacom skills. Click on the photos to get a larger image by the way.

Later,

-Rich

A friend of mine from CHCH, Neil sent me up two bags of M&Ms. They were really yummy.

AWESOME DRAWING PHIL!
What level are you now with your nappy skills Father Richard?

On a scale of 1-10 for nappy changing skills I think I am at about 7 or 8. I used to be pretty crap with it and her weese and poos kept leaking out the side and onto my clothes and fingers. Now that my skills are better I can seal in all the leakage and perform a fairly smooth change without her screaming.

I didn't think fathers were allowed to eat m&ms- you know 'set the good example of not eating sweet food etc..'. Sorry Richard but that habit will have to stop! Thats great Katie can visit next week. Just take up apples for Rich Katie. Too much information about nappy changing Rich- remember I am a very visual person- and I am eating lunch!!
Great you are mastering the art though.
Loved seeing sleeping Sophie on webcam yesterday. She's HUGE. The baby factory is doing exceedingly well. You aren't sneaking chocolate into her are you? Love Helen

Holy crap - I just read Phil's deviant art journal and he hadn't traced that photo of Denali and Sophie. It was hand drawn on screen!
