This post is the last in a series of seven documenting the first week of Sophie's life. From here on we will probably return to the usual routine of posting once a week. Last night Sophie slept from 9:30pm to 4:30am, then Denali's Milk Bar opened and Sophie went back to sleep at 5:30am, sleeping until 9am. She had a big day today and was quite active.

First thing this morning, Denali had to get Sophie ready to go out for her first big trip, which I am told took some serious preparation. Sophie first had a trial in the front pack with Betty, but they soon switched to the buggy because it is simply easier at the moment. Because the weather packed in, the happy trio then went to the mall... for some special bonding time over a cup of coffee. Sophie, I am told is already a great conversationalist.

Denali's new friend Suzie then visited for a while (who is due to have her own baby in 2 WEEKS!). Afterwards, Denali had a late lunch, fed Sophie and put her to sleep (in the kind parental sense of the word).

When I got home Denali painted Sophie's feet and made little foot prints for her scrap book. We then bathed Sophie again because we know she loves it. She just sits there so still and content as we wash her and run water over her tiny belly. Another feed from the Milk Bar, a change of nappy and then off to bed. Actually, Sophie I am told has pooed and pooed and pooed her way through the day. I couldn't have been happier to be at work.

It is now 9:58pm and she is sound asleep. Hopefully we will have another good night like last nights performance.

Work for me today was really quite cool. We have almost finished a big job for Tourism New Zealand, which has been ongoing for the last 9 months. The last of our footage came back today in HD format and I spent the afternoon in awe of HD and helicopter gyro technology as I watched and edited some amazing scenes of the most spectacular places in New Zealand. There was a particular sequence that really impressed me of these mountain bikers racing at full pace along a mountain ridgeline track at sunset in Queenstown. The camera operator did such a great job of following these guys as he and the pilot worked to get the best shots. The result was simply amazing and is something I really want to be able to do in the future. After seeing such footage I really want my own helicopter with a nice $100,000 gyro to mount the camera in. Oh, man that would be so friggin cool.

If you would like to donate money toward such a cause, please make your cheques out to Richard Lord and send them to 56a Ironside Rd, Johnsonville, Wellington, New Zealand. Thanks.

Oh... sooooo sweeeet. We can remake Lord of the Rings with that kind of space!

I know what you mean... the effects look all crappy.

For those of you who haven't checked out the Superman Returns trailer, please visit 'Apple.com Movie Trailers' listed on the right hand side of this blog. While you're there, check out Oliver Stone's 'World Trade Centre' trailer.

*BLOG DISCUSSION*: Do you think that the movie 'WTC' is being made too soon after the event? Why?

no. worse things have happened in the world. besides, the story focuses on the rescue of two firefighters, not the terrorists or whoever crashed the plane.

So, if the movie had focused on the terrorists, do you think it would be in bad taste?

Wow! what a gorgeous baby- those going to sleep photos are adorable.
And Denali- you look so good- you'll be so grateful Sophie is sleeping so long at night- though I appreciate the fact she won't necessarily do that all the time- but thats pretty good for a wee baby. She's so lovely and looks like a girl!! (from mother of 5 boys)
