Presenting Sophie Lily Kate Lord

Sophie Lily Kate Lord

The new family together for the first time.

Just admiring the new bundle of joy

Sophie in Denali's arms, about 30mins after c-section

Sophie after being dressed by Richard (it took me 10mins to get all that on!)

Sophie poking her tongue out and making snorting noises

Penina - our midwife with Betty (Denali's Mum) and of course Denali... looking quite smitten.

Denali bravely endured a 50 hour labour to finally deliver a beautiful baby GIRL, Sophie Lily Kate Lord into the world. She was born at 10:53pm by c-section. Denali, Betty and I are totally exhausted. The baby is healthy and wriggly and gorgeous and weighs a little under 9 pounds (8 pounds 11 to be exact I THINK). She had her first feed fairly quickly, then Betty and I dressed her before Denali was transfered up to the maternity ward. It is currently 3:07am and I have just spoken to overjoyed Grandparents in Mongolia. Now I'm off to bed.

Enjoy the photos.

oohhh Phil you are a cracker- another good one!
I think this baby is going to play basketball- and piano!or maybe cello with such long fingers. But "pull my finger" will be great to start with.
hey- Richard, Denali and Betty- shes beautiful and looks chubby already.
Really feel for you all with the exhaustion- hope your bodies all make a swift recovery. Sophie is probably the only one without headache! Denali- what a mammoth effort- we hope you heal fast and are soon up and around. Wonderful news. Wish we were there.

love the name Rich and Denali- Sophie Lily Kate Lord sounds really fitting for such a gorgeous baby.
Love you and feeling the miles between us but we would just cry anyway and kiss her all the time so best to keep our bugs away!! But will be home as fast as we can to fuss over you all. (if you can stand it!) All the best for the next few days as you get used to feeding. Tell us when you shift from Wellington hospital. Proud to be grandparents. its Sophie's Great grandma's birthday today. just missed same birthday by one hour!
